Challenge
JMS Marketing’s client needed high-quality, consistent imagery for a wide range of marketing needs but had an extremely limited budget. The client’s existing photos varied in quality and style, making it difficult to maintain a cohesive brand presence across print, digital, sales, and public-relations materials. Repeated photoshoots were not a cost-effective option.

Solution
JMS designed the photography project from the outset for long-term, cross-channel use. Product selection, shot composition, image formats, and licensing rights were planned to support both print and digital applications. Rather than focusing on a short-term product need, JMS helped the client select one core technology that represented the company’s long-term capabilities and would continue to reflect the brand accurately for the next five to seven years.

The shoot was arranged to create a flexible image library for the client, including versatile product imagery and carefully staged “hero images” showcasing the company’s environmental technology at different times of day. To maximize future usability, JMS directed the capture of wide shots, close-ups, verticals, and horizontals that could be adapted for brochures, trade show graphics, presentations, website pages, social media, press materials, and industry publications.

What was developed was a visual approach – modern and polished, without feeling trendy, focused enough to convey expertise and adaptability, and broad enough to remain relevant over time.

Results
Rather than supporting a single campaign, the photography became a long-term marketing asset for the client, used across sales brochures, trade show graphics, PowerPoint presentations, website content, email campaigns, social media, LinkedIn, press materials, and numerous other initiatives.

Two hero images produced through the project were also selected—at no cost—as cover photography for industry publications, expanding the visibility and credibility of the client’s investment. Originally intended to provide five to seven years of value, the hero imagery has remained in active use for more than two decades.

When the total cost of the shoot was measured against its many individual applications, the investment delivered a substantially lower cost per use than commissioning separate photography for each project. The documented return also helped justify—and secure a larger photography allocation in the client’s following year marketing budget.

Value

The financial value is clear when the original investment is spread across its years of repeated use.

$3,500 Original photo shoot investment—including photography, art direction, editing, licensing, internal coordination, and related costs
$700 Estimated annual value based on approximately five primary applications per year
22 years Years that photo has remained in use
Approximately $159. Per year Effective annual cost of original investment
Approximately $32. Per use Effective cost per use, based on five applications annually over 22 years

This calculation does not include the added value of the two publication cover placements, ongoing brand consistency, or the time and expense avoided by not having to repeatedly commission new photography.
