Portable Displays. Powerful Presence

This organization needed to create an inviting, professional trade show environment that surrounded a centrally located office or meeting area—without the cost, shipping requirements, or installation complexity of a custom-built booth. The solution was a modular display made with portable 10-10 curved modular displays arranged in a circular formation.

The Challenge
A large, 40 x 60 island space was reserved for a clients exhibit, yet the budget did not support a large display requiring labor, drayage and electrical costs. A permanent wall system or custom exhibit would have been more expensive and less adaptable. Traditional pipe-and-drape would have created separation but would not have delivered the desired visual impact or brand presence.

There were several goals at once:

  • Create a clearly defined footprint around a private consultation area located in the center of the space.
  • Give the area a polished, branded appearance from every direction.
  • Allow visitors to enter easily while still creating separation from surrounding activity.
  • Provide enough messaging space for services, event promotion, capabilities, and brand visuals.
  • Remain easy to transport, set up, reconfigure, and store for future events either collectively, or as individual 10 x 10 displays.

The Solution
The organization already slowly built a collection of 4 roll-up banners featuring specific information on membership, education and benefits. These were placed at each of the four corners of the exhibit. A series of (?) portable two sided portable 10 x 10 curved displays were designed to visually coordinate with the roll-up banners to create a 360-degree branded environment. The displays were positioned in the middle of the space in a broad circle around the central meeting area, with deliberate openings that served as entry points.

By using consistent colors, typography, photography, and panel heights, the individual displays read as one continuous branded installation rather than a collection of separate banners. The circular layout helped soften the appearance of a temporary exhibit while creating a sense of enclosure. It provided visual privacy for the central meeting area without making it feel closed off or inaccessible.

Considerations
For the strongest result, the display was planned before artwork was developed. The team determined the overall diameter of the circle, the number of 10 x 10 portable required, the location of entrances, sightlines from aisles, and the placement of furniture within the central space.

Key planning considerations included:

  • Using sided curved 10 x 10 portable displays for greater visual continuity and fewer gaps between panels.
  • Leaving one or two intentional openings for entry and exit rather than attempting a fully enclosed circle.
  • Position the strongest brand and message panels toward high-traffic aisles.
  • Design graphics so key headlines and images remained visible even when visitors approached from an angle.
  • Using panels at entrances to frame the space and guide guests inside.
  • Allowing sufficient interior clearance for desks, chairs, storage, electrical access, and comfortable circulation.

Because each display packed into its own carrying case, the system could be transported in a vehicle, shipped in smaller components, or stored easily between events. Sections of the displays could also be used throughout the country for those events that may overlap.

Results
The roll-up display system transformed an otherwise exposed central meeting area into a distinct branded destination. It established a more professional environment for meetings, and one-on-one conversations while maintaining the flexibility of a portable exhibit.

The modular setup delivered several benefits:

  • Created an eye-catching circular display without investing in a permanent or custom-built structure.
  • Defined the central office area and provided a degree of visual privacy.
  • Increased brand visibility by presenting messaging in multiple directions.
  • Made the space feel intentional, cohesive, and welcoming.
  • Allowed the organization to reuse the exhibit at trade shows, member events, and internal meetings.
  • Reduced setup and storage burdens compared with larger custom display systems.
  • Enabled individual 10 x 10 displays to be replaced or updated without rebuilding the complete exhibit.
  • Protected the organizations budget while clearly demonstrating its focus on being value driven for members.
  • Crates required no drayage as they provided storage and counter space at the show.

Lasting Value
The greatest value of the portable roll-up display system was its adaptability. Rather than purchasing one fixed 40’ x 60’ booth for one event format, the organization created a reusable collection of branded components through 3 years that could ultimately create a meeting area, stand independently, frame an entrance, or be arranged in a straight-line backdrop.

This approach turned a practical need—screening and defining a central meeting space—into a versatile marketing investment that could evolve with changing events, messages, and audiences.
